BRIAN LUNDGREN
About
I’m always looking for ways to level up. Knowledge is essential to me, and I constantly look for ways to understand people, the world, and activities that I find interesting. I enjoy continually reading, taking courses, and discussing ideas with others. I also enjoy understanding how things work. I’m willing to build drum sets, guitars, computers, furniture, and other items to know how they are constructed. Those crazy Ikea builds don’t phase me. I’m also comfortable not knowing a subject. It allows me to go through the process of better understanding. I didn’t always have a passion for knowledge, but as I “level up,” I find pleasure in the journey of learning.
Many would say that I often fill a supportive role. I take pride in empowering those around me, whether family members, colleagues, friends, or fellow musicians. I always encourage individuals, getting to know them, and push them to strive to be better. I treat people as if they were what they ought to be to help them become what they are capable of being. Even though I’m not an expert in psychology and sociology, I often find myself in a counseling role by listening, understanding, and providing feedback. I also expect people to do the same for me. I do my best to remain open to constructive criticism since it helps me to grow. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and I’m fully aware of my personal weaknesses. I’m too hard on myself, and to cope with this internal struggle of trying to be the best version of myself, I often use humor to break the tension. I also use humor in situations of conflict. I hate confrontation, and I would find a way to lighten the mood rather than escalate the situation. I realize that it’s healthier to express disappointment in a meaningful way. As I’m “leveling up,” I use tactics to keep a clear head. I also tend to give everyone around me credit when things go well, and I’ll take the blame when situations don’t go well. I realize it’s ok to take credit when it’s due, but it always makes me uncomfortable. I prefer that the team wins over the individual. |
