Chakra Journey - Part 14/24/2019 ![]() I wrote an article recently about the different ways to spark creativity and I offered examples of places to help be inspired. Well, one of my favorite methods, Pinterest helped me yet again. In my quest for creating music I came across something known as Chakras. I've heard of this before and thought it to be some new age made up nonsense but in researching this practice, I learned a thing or two that might have some usefulness. First I'll try to explain the concept of Chakra. Actually I thinks it's more plural than singular, it's the Chakra(s) but many references simply call it Chakra. They are the focal points in the body used in a variety of ancient meditation practices, considered meditation aids. There are seven and if you were to sit legs crossed with your back straight, the Chakras would start at the base and work their way up to the crown of the head. Each Chakra represents different aspects of one’s mental and physical wellbeing and is used to help make a connection between the mind and body.
Does it work? I don't know but I would like to find out. What brought Chakra to my attention in my Pinterest feed was that each of the seven Chakras can be represented by a note, a whole note and there just so happens to be seven whole notes. I believe that the mind can make a connection with the physical body and help it to heal or even just become stronger which then makes the mind stronger and together it would help a person be more well-rounded. To do this many turn to meditation practices. What I've always struggled with is how to actually meditate. I often see people practicing meditation in movies or TV and they're usually in silence. I don't do silence. I need sound, more importantly I need music. So I got the idea that I would create a song that represents each of the seven Chakras. Each song will be a slow relaxing ambient chill style of music based on the seven whole notes, which would translate as a musical key. I did some additional research and found that an adequate amount of time for meditating is around forty to forty-five minutes, so I'm going to shoot for six to six and half minutes per song. I figure if I can create these seven songs and I know I'll be able to focus on the music, then it should help me with meditating and ultimately focus on each Chakra. It would be a kind of Chakra journey.
